A market timeout

My trading account is all in cash at the moment. It’s been a weird year. Fantastic, volatile, and no shortage of news and chatter. But there comes a moment when the news and chatter is no longer worth the actual mental energy of following it. Of trying to keep up.

For those who have followed me all these years, you’ve seen me come up from a young kid helping to build Stocktwits to now working on an advanced platform at TradingView. One thing I have learned is this: the Internet never shuts off and the markets always have a story to tell you. If the Internet isn’t taking up your time, the markets definitely will.

That’s why I believe that there is a point in everyone’s trading or investing career, where the scorecard of your portfolio’s account becomes less important than the scorecard of your personal health. For first time in a long time, I am at that point. That’s why I went to cash and I want to focus on a few things that I will list out here to hold myself accountable:

The ultimate zen experience
I need to center my body and mind. The goal is to unify them like I am a beautiful river flowing seamlessly through the mountains of Wyoming. I know you love that description. Don’t lie. You want this too.

Super health
I want to get back to being a baller runner. I am decent now. I’ve been better. I need to pick it up. Next time you see me running on the streets or in the trails all you can hear is “Chariots of Fire” playing in the background.

Complete DGAF
I am pretty exhausted caring about so many things happening in the world. I remember a few years ago when I was a wee lad who did not care about anything except my immediate surroundings. The here and now. I need to reclaim this.

Building with fluidity
I’ve been working in the fintech industry for almost 10 years. I’ve helped build products and brands that are now used by a lot of people. I need to remove the day-to-day aspect of trading so I can refocus on creating a great end product with fluidity. That’s the key. Happy work is good.

Enjoy the weather
The fall is pretty awesome. Never a better time to get outside and do things.

Thanks for reading.
