Do You Know Who Bitcoin’s Largest Holders Are?

With Bitcoin nearing $100,000 per Bitcoin, I decided to create a short list of the 10 largest holders of Bitcoin. Now, I have do have an important note to share about this list below, and trust me, things get interesting. But first, here is the list of the 10 largest holders of Bitcoin:

  • Coinbase: 2,256,287 BTC
  • Satoshi*: 968,452 BTC
  • Binance: 636,209 BTC
  • BlackRock: 357,509 BTC
  • MicroStrategy: 331,200 BTC
  • Grayscale: 224,751 BTC
  • U.S. Government: 213,246 BTC
  • Bitfinex: 207,429 BTC
  • OKX: 195,182 BTC
  • Kraken: 190,998 BTC

Yes, Coinbase is number one. But no, they don’t technically own it. These holdings belong to their clients, so Coinbase is more like the world’s biggest piggy bank for Bitcoin and its millions of clients. The same can be said for Binance, Bitfinex, OKX, and Kraken. They are all exchanges in the crypto world, brokers, holding these specific Bitcoins.

Now, here’s where it gets juicy. Let’s strip away the brokerages and investment firms, and what do you get? The actual largest holders of Bitcoin as individuals are as follows:

  1. Satoshi Nakamoto: 968k BTC
  2. MicroStrategy ($MSTR): 331k BTC
  3. The U.S. Government: 213k BTC

Fascinating, isn’t it? Unlike firms holding Bitcoin for clients, these three own it outright. No middlemen. No paperwork. Just wallets full of digital Bitcoin.

Also, let me repeat this for those in the back who, for one reason or another do not think that the US Government has any Bitcoin: they are the THIRD largest holder of Bitcoin only behind MicroStrategy (also based in the US) and Satoshi Nakamoto.

I believe this will have many of you thinking.
