Endless marketing campaigns try to make this aspect of placing trades while “you’re on the go” a cool thing to do. Skiing? Just stop at the top of a mountain and place trade right from your phone. Skydiving? Just trade your portfolio right before the big jump.
At the end of the day, you can probably deduce whether this is a good or bad idea with a simple thought exercise: how many investors or traders have you met who are outperforming the market and also managing their portfolios from their phone?
It does not exist.
Trading from your phone, no matter how prevalent it is in today’s world, is the surest way to make terrible decisions as the phone is not made for this level of research, decision making, and game planning.
I would wager the losses in trading are 2x on a mobile phone than what they are on desktops.
Also, if you’re skiing or hiking, enjoy the day. Don’t let bits distract you.
