Produce More Than You Consume – My 2025 Goal

I recently spent considerable time reviewing data sets about the vast amount of content and information that we now have access to. In reviewing this data, it becomes abundantly clear that, at this very moment, the average person has access to more content, entertainment, and digital goods than at any other point in history. From streaming services and video games to social media, podcasts, music, and countless other categories, we are undeniably immersed in an abundance of content both as an incredible human accomplishment, but also one to become more aware of.

On one hand, this is wonderful: people can go read or learn about anything they want across various mediums. It is truly an informational enlightenment. It is still hard to grasp just how large this movement is. It will be written about in history books 100 years from now.

At the same time, among this wave of content and information, I find it to be more important than ever to realize this as a consumer yourself and tilt the scales back into your favor. Meaning, we must be careful with the amount of information we can consume as a fine balancing act between what we consume and what we create for ourselves.

I would wager that 99% of people consume ten times more information and content than they produce—perhaps even a hundred times more, as some create nothing at all while consuming endlessly. At this point in time, I believe this is a significant mistake, considering it is now just as easy to create content as it is to consume it. We must take advantage of this opportunity, channeling our time, energy, and skills into creation. Letting this moment slip away would be a waste.

In my case, my goal heading into 2025 is to produce MORE than I consume.

2025 is going to be a year I push myself to produce. And then produce some more. And, even more. More importantly, it will be a year that I spend less time consuming other people’s information, and more time working on my own.

By doing this I believe the following will happen:

  1. I will improve my creativity.
  2. I will enhance my technological skills by exploring new methods of creation.
  3. I spend more time in deep thought, creating something, that I do mindlessly scrolling on various platforms.

So there it is…

2025 is the year I will PRODUCE more than I consume. Even better, I will be posting it all here, on my blog, as I build in public.

I am wishing everyone a happy new year!
