The other day, someone asked me a simple but loaded question: What projects are you most proud of in your career?
It made me pause.
Since graduating in 2012, I’ve technically only worked at two companies—but that’s exactly what I love about my path. I go deep. I build things for the long term. I spent seven years at StockTwits, then over five years at TradingView. And during those years, something remarkable happened in the world around me: the investing industry exploded into something I never could have imagined.
I remember when Robinhood was just a scrappy startup. Meanwhile, I was building content, tools, and products for retail investors—helping people talk about the markets, understand them, and become a part of that rising wave. If you’ve ever seen the early memes or charts from 2013 to 2015, there’s a good chance you’ve come across something we had a hand in. At the time, I thought that was escape velocity. In hindsight, it was just the beginning.
More recently with TradingView, whoa. What we achieved is simply remarkable at all levels.
Today, Robinhood is worth over $40 billion. Platforms have gone global. And I realize now: I’ve been right there in the middle of it all.
This industry—this movement—has grown massively. The best part for me is with a few Google searches, I can find our work scattered around the web as product, as early viral memes, as content, as newsletters and ads or videos, it’s just remarkable all the different things that my teammates and I have pushed over the years. A hidden snowball that most people in this industry were potentially influenced by, and yet, who actually helped create it or get it to that point… well, that’s us. And still, no one really knows!
So what comes next? That is always the most exciting question and I am thinking hard about just that. When I know, I’ll share it here.
