So, I just learned this the other day, and this story is fantastic. I’ll try to tell it the best I can: After college, Warren Buffett had a friend named Don Danly, and together they dreamed up a business called Buffett & Danly’s Pinball Machine Company.
What a name.
They bought a used pinball machine for $25 and placed it in a local barber shop, offering the owner a cut of the profits.
Kids and customers would play a quick game before or after their haircut.
In no time, the machine had paid for itself.
So, they bought more machines and placed them in other barbershops around Omaha.
I’m not entirely sure what happened next or what became of Don Danly, but it’s a great little story nonetheless.
We all have our humble starts.
