The Age of The Polymath

I think a lot about the job market and especially students who want to land a job right after school. With AI, this is changing everything for jobs that are being automated away. At the same time, there is a solution: step away from the idea of specializing in a single subject, because that entire model is quickly becoming obsolete. Instead, become a polymath.

AI tools are now capable of making almost anyone proficient in nearly any subject. There is no defensibility of studying a single subject for four years – it’s a prompt away on ChatGPT.

Because of this shift, the only real path forward is becoming a polymath.

Rather than anchoring to one degree or one discipline, it makes more sense now than ever to use the platforms already available to build strong proficiency across several areas at once.

The age of the polymath.

This is a rare moment.

It’s one of the few times in history where someone can realistically operate like Da Vinci across multiple domains simultaneously, provided they integrate technology correctly into their work, studies, and everyday decision-making.

From here on out, degrees themselves should evolve in this direction, because polymath-focused thinking is the new baseline for everything.
